Bowling Green State University names new president

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Bowling Green State University’s new president has plenty of ties to Ohio.

The school announced today that Auburn University provost and vice president for academic affairs Mary Ellen Mazey will take over as president in July.

Mazey has been at Auburn since 2009 and before that was a dean at West Virginia University.

But her early years were spent in Ohio. She received a doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati and taught there before moving on to Wright State University near Dayton.

Mazey will succeed Bowling Green President Carol Cartwright, who is retiring this summer.
