Youngstown leases acreage to V&M Star for parking, storage

YOUNGSTOWN — The city is leasing an eight-acre parcel to V&M Star, near the company’s $650 million expansion location, so the company can store building materials and soil, and provide parking for construction workers.

The board of control voted today to lease the land on South State Street, the former location of Sharp Lumber for $100, retroactive to Feb. 22 and running through May 31. After May 31, V&M would automatically receive one-year license renewals for the land at no cost.

The location was considered at one point as part of V&M’s expansion location, but the company opted to use it for storage and parking, said Mayor Jay Williams, the board of control’s chairman.
