Republican Dave Johnson having a good year

SUMMITVILLE

David Johnson, chairman of the Columbiana County Republican Party, said he has a first.

“I’m very pleased that for the first time in my life, I could vote for a Republican congressman that won,” he said Thursday.

He was referring to the win by Bill Johnson, who now represents the 6th Ohio Congressional District, which includes

Columbiana County. The two are not related.

The last time a Republican congressman candidate won in this area of Ohio, “was way back in the 1920s,” David Johnson said.

David Johnson said he was even more pleased to see the congressman plans to open an office in Salem, possibly as early as next month.
