Author’s books are award-winners

COLUMBUS

The book, “Seed Soil Sun: Earth’s Recipe for Food,” by Cris Peterson has been awarded the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s 2011 Award for Children’s Literature.

This marks the sixth time one of Peterson’s books has been selected for this award, which honors a book and author whose work embodies an agricultural theme and contributes to American literature.

In “Seed Soil Sun,” Peterson, who lives on a Wisconsin dairy farm with her family, describes the seemingly miraculous process by which air and water combine with seed, soil and sun to create nearly all the food we eat.

The book also was named Book of the Year by the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture and can be ordered through the foundation’s website at www.agfoundation.org or through county farm bureau offices.
