PBS crew to film block-watch meeting

YOUNGSTOWN

I.C.U. Neighborhood Block Watch for those who live on East Philadelphia, East Boston, East Avondale and East Lucius avenues will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Metro Assembly of God, 2536 South Ave. The group gathers at the church at 7 p.m. every third Monday of the month. This meeting will be filmed for a PBS special, “BluePrint America,” said block-watch officials.

Motorcyclist hit

BRACEVILLE

Police say a 53-year-old Newton Falls man has been charged with felony aggravated vehicular assault, operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to yield in a Friday night accident. Braceville Township police said Joseph R. Quickle was driving his Dodge pickup truck when he hit motorcyclist Sean McCabe, 38, of Southington, around 10:30 p.m. Friday. The accident occurred on state Route 303 near state Route 82, reports state. McCabe was flown by helicopter to an Akron hospital.

Haluski sale

License bureau

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and the Youngstown Southside License Bureau will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Thursday for the newly remodeled bureau at 3623 Market St. Refreshments will be served afterward. Those attending should RSVP between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to 330-783-3223 by Wednesday; ask for Cheryl. The bureau has been at that location in the city’s 6th Ward for more than 20 years. There is a new entrance, and several interior improvements have been made.

Young Republicans

The Lawrence County Young Republicans will have their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the New Castle Library, 207 E. North St. All candidates, elected officials, LCYR members, Lawrence County Republican Committee and the public are invited to meet for networking and a discussion of spring primary-election activities.
