Malika Howard scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and the junior center and her Twinsburg teammates will take an undefeated record into the Division I final after beating Pickerington North 57-44 in a semifinal Friday.
The Tigers (26-0) can win their first title if they defeat Kettering Fairmont on Saturday.
Ashley Morrissette added 13 points for the Tigers, while Kavunaa Edwards had 13 points and Shelby Olszewski 10 for the Lady Panthers (21-6).
Pickerington North got to within 44-34 but the Tigers responded with five consecutive points by Leah Fechko.
Kettering Fairmont 59, Tol. Start 50
Makayla Waterman and Kathryn Westbeld, Kettering Fairmont’s 6-foot-1 freshmen combination, were too much for Toledo Start.
Waterman had eight of her 21 points in the fourth quarter to stave a rally by Start (23-3), who trailed 47-33 with five minutes to play but pulled to within 49-45 at the 2:10 mark.
DIVISION III
Taylor Hale had 17 points, including a baseline drive for the go-ahead basket with 3 1/2 minutes to play, to lead Oak Hill to a 53-49 comeback win against Elyria Catholic.
Hale gave the Lady Oaks a 46-44 lead, and teammate Kelsey Burton followed with a basket. After a layup by Ashley Schuster, who led Elyria Catholic (22-3) with 16 points, Oak Hill sealed the win by sinking five of six free throws.
Oak Hill was only 3 for 16 from the three-point line and trailed 31-18 at the half, but in the third quarter they made five of eight treys, including Hales’ with eight seconds left to give Oak Hill its first lead.
ANNA 57, FORT RECOVERY 40
Carrie Watkins scored 16 points and Megan Fogt added 14 as Anna pulled away from Fort Recovery in the second half.
The Rockets (26-1), will try to extend their winning streak to 23 against Oak Hill.
Watkins had a 3-pointer among her seven points in the third quarter as the Rockets outscored Fort Recovery 20-13 for a 46-35 margin.
Anna took a 26-22 halftime lead on a three-pointer from the top of the key by Erica Huber with two seconds left after having trailed 18-12 five minutes earlier.
Kylie Kahlig had 13 points for the Indians (23-3).
