State Route 7 still closed near Wellsville

WELLSVILLE — All four lanes of state Route 7 remain closed in Jefferson County between State Route 213 and Wellsville due to rock fall.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has hired a rock remediation contractor, Janod Inc. from New York, that will be on-site today to begin scaling the hillside and remove the remaining loose rock face while ODOT crews cleanup the rock and debris from the ground. Officials anticipate this work to take about a week to complete and cost approximately $75,000.

Both north and southbound traffic is being detoured onto U.S. Route 22 west to state Route 43 north to state Route 164 north to state Route 39 east back to state Route 7 and reverse.
