DIVISION II

Hathaway Brown 53, Cambridge 36

COLUMBUS

Vanessa Smith had 12 points and Tanisha Lawler 11 to lead two-time defending champion Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown in a state semifinal. The Blazers (17-9) will play Dayton Carroll on Saturday in their fifth straight final after losing in 2007 and 2008. Following steals, Hathaway (17-9) took a 38-23 lead in the first 45 seconds of the fourth quarter on layups by Smith and Nia Marshall, and Cambridge never got closer than 13. Molly Ritz had 12 points for Cambridge (22-5).

Dayton Carroll 47, Clyde 43

Kelley Austria of Dayton Carroll made two free throws with 5.6 seconds left to seal the win over undefeated Clyde. Clyde (25-1) rallied from eight down in the fourth quarter and pulled to within 43-42 on a basket and free throw by Amanda Cahill with 58 seconds remaining but Austria found Ciara Triplett open underneath for a bucket to increase the lead to three.

DIVISION IV

Fort Loramie 72, Shadyside 28

Janel Olberding had 14 points, Tori Maurer scored 12 and Darian Rose added 12 off the bench as Fort Loramie knocked Shadyside from the ranks of the unbeaten. Shadyside (26-1) couldn’t overcome an eight-minute field goal drought that carried until the 3:22 mark of the second quarter when Hayley Holenka made a three-pointer from the top of the key. That ended a 13-0 run that pushed Fort Loramie to a 27-10 lead en route to the 31-15 halftime score. The Redskins (21-5) lost in the semifinals last season to eventual champion Harvest Prep and were runner-up in 1997. Holenka had eight points for Shadyside, which defeated Lowellville in the regional semifinals.

Canal Winchester Harvest Prep 55, Delphos Jefferson 52

Chelsea McKnight scored six late points after Division IV player of the year Shicole Watts fouled out and defending champion Harvest Prep held on. McKnight’s 3-pointer put the Warriors (26-1) up 50-43 with 2:55 to play and her layup a minute late made it 54-47. After Jefferson (23-3) got to 54-52 on a free throw by Courtney Lewis with 11 seconds left, McKnight made the front of a one-and-one with four seconds left for her 17th point and a three-point lead. Lewis then missed a midcourt shot at the buzzer.
