HUBBARD

Music, games and a parade put the fun into the annual Hubbard fest.

The Hubbard Fun Fest is scheduled in July in the parking lot of the city administration building, 220 W. Liberty St. Hours will be from 5 to 11 p.m. July 22, 4 to 11 p.m. July 23 and 3 to 10 p.m. July 24.

Carol Killian, festival chairwoman, said this year’s theme is “Cruisin’.” Past themes have included patriotric, Hawaiian and the ’50s.

Killian said a highlight of the event is the parade, which will be at 5 p.m. July 23. She said she hoped owners of antique and vintage cars would participate because of the theme. There’s no registration for the parade. Just be on Hall Avenue by Hubbard High School at 4 p.m. the day of the parade to line up.

The parade will travel from Hall Avenue to West Liberty Street to the center of town. Killian said floats and community groups are among participants.

The other big drawing cards are the musical entertainment that Killian has lined up. They are Rock and Roll Heaven on July 22, Guys Without Ties on July 23 and Music at Madison on July 24. All performance are scheduled for 8 p.m.

For the younger set, there’s the Hubbard Little Miss Pageant. Participants must be residents of the city or township. The age limit is 12 years old. Applications are available at the city building and Ron’s Sign Shop, 758 N. Main St.

Food vendors also must fill out applications, also available at the city building.

The fest also will include games and a dunking booth, which serves as a fundraiser for a community organization.

Killian said the fest has been going on for about eight years. “It’s a nice community event,” she said, adding that it always attracts a good crowd.
