Today’s entertainment picks:
v Beaver Township Ruritan Father’s Day Car Show, 1 to 5 p.m.: The annual event is at South Range High School, 11300 Columbiana-Canfield Rod, North Lima.
v Firestone Park Summer Concert Series, 2 to 4 p.m.: Loren Coler will sing “Father’s Day Favorites” in the Gazebo in Columbiana. Glenellen Senior Living is hosting the event. There will be free hot dogs.
v Father’s Day gala, 6 p.m.: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6488, 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, Youngstown, presents Howie Howard Band.
v Shenango Valley Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America, noon to 4 p.m.: The 29th annual Father’s Day Car Show will be on East State Street in Hermitage, Pa. Registration is from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be refreshments for sale and door prizes.
v Youngstown Area Community Concert Band, 7 p.m.: Relax and listen to music with your dad at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road, Austintown.
“FALLING SKIES” (9 p.m., TNT): Prepare yourself for some close encounters of the eerie kind. This rollicking new sci-fi drama series from executive producer Steven Spielberg imagines a nation that has been devastated by a brutal alien invasion. Now, as the spidery extraterrestrials occupy city ruins and enslave American youths, a ragtag group of survivors is doing its best to battle back. Among the resistance fighters is history professor — and big war buff — Tom Mason (Noah Wyle). “Falling Skies” is TV’s version of a big-screen summer adventure saga.
“The 38th DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS” (8 p.m., CBS): The show figures to have a bittersweet feel to them considering that two more long-running soap operas — “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” — will expire soon. Wayne Brady is your host for the festivities.
“The KILLING” (9 p.m., AMC): The saga has both thrilled us and annoyed us over its uneven 13-episode run. Now, it’s finally time to wrap up the Rosie Larsen murder case. (We think.)
“DROP DEAD DIVA” (9 p.m., Lifetime): LeAnn Rimes does a guest gig on the season premiere of playing a celebrity charged in a hit-and-run accident. But the real highlight could be the cast’s campy musical take on Thelma Houston’s “Don’t Leave Me This Way.”
“The 2011 MISS USA PAGEANT” (9 p.m., NBC): Break out the swimsuits and the sashes. We just hope the winner can actually speak in complete sentences.

Groove to history

Get your 1960s groove going with a mod cocktail party, “History on Tap, It’s A Mod Mod World,” from 7 to 10 p.m. July 16 at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave.
Guests will enjoy live music, 1960s inspired hors d’oeuvres and a signature cocktail. The museum will be open for self-guided tours and a silent auction with historical and vintage items.
The cost is $25 per person with a cash bar. Proceeds will help support History to Go, a free educational lecture series.
