Furanos, family mark couple’s 50th anniversary

A 50th wedding celebration honoring Mr. and Mrs. Osvaldo Furano of Poland began in April with a 10-day family trip to Orlando, Fla., and Universal Studios and included a dinner May 13 at Caff Capri in Boardman.

Invitations for the dinner were extended by the couple’s children and their spouses, Anthony and Tina Furano of Poland and Caroline and Nino Marchionda of Cranberry, Pa.

The family includes five grandchildren, Anthony, Tommy, Dante, Matthew and Marco.

Mrs. Furano, the former Antoinette Niro, and her husband are members of St. Luke Church in Boardman.

Mr. Furano worked as a senior systems engineer for IBM Corp. From 1960 to 1967, he worked in Endicott, N.Y., and from 1967 until he retired in 1991, he worked in Youngstown. He belongs to the Knights of Columbus Council 12956, Holy Name Society and Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club. Mr. Furano served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1961 to 1967.

The Furanos were married May 13, 1961, at St. Nicholas Church, Struthers.
