Shepherd of Valley to host job fair

AUSTINTOWN

Shepherd of the Valley Home Health Services will host a job fair for registered nurses and aides interested in working in the home-health field.

The not-for-profit organization says it will need two registered nurses, two licensed practical nurses and several home health aides.

The job fair will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Shepherd’s offices, 5525 Silica Road.

Attendees should bring a r sum or upload their r sum online at www.shepherdofthevalley.com before the fair.

Registration for the region’s largest job- networking event is open.

The Pennsylvania CareerLinks of Lawrence and Mercer Counties, along with the One-Stop Workforce Centers in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, will present OH-Penn Job Expo 2011 from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Covelli Centre.

At last year’s expo, 85 employers and 30 training organizations attracted nearly 3,500 area job-seekers.

There is a $150 registration fee for those businesses interested in participating. The fee includes an 8-foot table, two chairs and lunches for two recruiters, access to a copier and youth runners to assist recruiters.

Myers provides 8 new ambulances

LifeFleet Ambulance, which serves Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, recently purchased eight new ambulances from Canfield-based Myers Equipment.

The van-style ambulances are more economical than their predecessors, getting about 25 miles per gallon.

The fleet now has 19 ambulances, said Jeff Lowery, president of LifeFleet.

Myers Equipment is a full-service distributor of school buses, commercial buses, truck equipment, van equipment and ambulances in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

List says Ohio can gain from drilling

YOUNGSTOWN

A recent study released by IHS Global Insight shows that Ohio and Pennsylvania have the most to gain when it comes to drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

Ohio could see as many as 4,500 jobs and Pennsylvania as many as 5,200.

Gas-drilling stopped after the Deepwater Horizon incident last summer.

The report says 230,000 jobs and an increase of $44 billion in gross domestic product could result from drilling in the Gulf.
