Learn composting
CANFIELD
The Green Team is offering two composting seminars at 1 and 3 p.m. Aug. 14 at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm on state Route 46. Cost is $10 for Mahoning County residents, $40 for nonresidents. Each seminar includes a one-hour training session with video instruction and open discussion. Registrants will receive a backyard compost bin, instructional booklet and trouble-shooting guide. Sebring garage sale

The chamber of commerce will host its 10th annual village-wide garage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Any resident or neighbor may have a sale. Some locations offer table space to other participants. Lists of participating homes are available at village hall, 135 E. Ohio Ave., Ashton’s 5 & 10, Leonard’s Hardware, Perkins Restaurant, Van Camp’s Gas Station, and by e-mail from costumes1@roadrunner.com.

The board of Mahoning County’s new land bank, which returns abandoned properties to productive use, is seeking volunteers to fill four new board seats. Residents of small townships or cities, those with nonprofit or civic-organization experience or in real-estate investment should contact Daniel R. Yemma, county treasurer and board chairman, before Aug. 8.
