“thundercats” (8 p.m., cartoon network): In “Thundercats,” a new anime version of the 1980s cartoon series, a boy king named Lion-O, and his fellow humanoid felines, battle the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra, who is a major threat to the kingdom of Thundera and the Sword of Omens on the planet Third Earth. Clearly, someone was smoking catnip when they came up with this stuff.

Casting call for film to be made in area

AUSTINTOWN

Actors are being sought for “Night of the Cannibals,” a horror film that will be made locally by director Joe Mohn.

A casting call will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Best Western Meander Inn, 870 N. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown.

Auditioners should bring a recent photo.

Production will begin in August.

The film is about a group of friends that goes camping in an area where cannibals once roamed. Soon members of their group start to go missing.

Event to benefit Lowellville band

YOUNGSTOWN

A casino night will be Aug. 5 at B&O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave., to benefit Lowellville High School band’s Disney World trip.

In addition to games and drawings, there will be a comedian, live music, buffet dinner and cash bar.

Cedar Point goes for world record

SANDUSKY

Cedar Point amusement park will attempt to set two world records at 9 a.m. Sunday: most beach balls in the air at the same time and greatest number of people applying sunscreen at the same time.

An adjudicator from the Guinness Book of World Records will be on hand.
