FISHKILL, N.Y.
For the second straight game, the Hudson Valley Renegades were able to tame the Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ bats.
One night after Hudson Valley’s 6-0 victory, three Renegades pitchers combined to scatter six hits in tossing another shutout.
Jake Floethe (1-0) earned the victory in relief of Mickey Jannis, tossing five innings in Monday’s 2-0 triumph.
Robert Dickmann earned a save after retiring the side in the ninth inning.
Danny Jiminez (1-2) took the loss for the Scrappers (21-17), giving up both runs in the six innings he pitched.
Craige Lyerly’s one-out single in the fifth inning ignited the Renegades’ offense. Lyerly stole second base before Tanner Biagini walked.
With two outs, Raymond Church hit a two-run double to produce the only runs in the game.
The loss keeps the Scrappers tied for first place with the Jamestown Jammers in the New York-Penn League’s Pinckney Division standings.
The Auburn Doubledays (20-17) were a half-game behind the Scrappers and Jammers pending the outcome of Monday’s weather-delayed game with Lowell.
The Scrappers are off today and will open a two-game series against the Lowell Spinners on Wednesday at Eastwood Field.
