Man pleads innocent

WARREN

A 50-year-old Brier Street Southeast man pleaded innocent Monday to being a felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of aggravated menacing and one count of domestic violence after witnesses accused him of threatening a man and woman with weapons early Saturday.

Gary L. Smith entered the plea in Warren Municipal Court but is being held in the Trumbull County Jail without eligibility to make bond. He returns to court Aug. 2.

Police said witnesses told them Smith argued with his girlfriend at their Brier Street residence about 3 a.m., then pulled out a sawed-off shotgun and pointed it at a second woman and a second man.

He also is accused of threatening the second woman with a knife.

Endangering children

WARREN

Amanda Oliver, 22, of Hamilton Street Southwest pleaded innocent Monday in Warren Municipal Court to two counts of endangering children for allegedly leaving her sons, age 1 and 2, unattended in a car Saturday morning.

Police were called to the 1900 block of Southern Boulevard Northwest at 9:30 a.m. for two missing children. The children were found in a vehicle parked in front of 1915 Southern Boulevard.

Jeff Cole, Warren police spokesman, said he didn’t know how long the children were left in the car.

Oliver was released from the Trumbull County jail after posting $1,000 bond.
