Scrappers tally four in 7th to beat Renegades

FISHKILL, N.Y.

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers scored four times in the seventh inning in Saturday’s 7-4 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades.

The victory keeps the Scrappers (21-15) in first place of the Pinckney Division of the New York-Penn League.

Cody Elliott’s double off Renegades reliever Mickey Jannis triggered the four-run outburst.

After Jake Lowery walked, Jordan Smith’s two-run double put the Scrappers ahead 5-2. John Barr then walked to set up Todd Hankins’ two-run double.

The Scrappers’ first run came in the fourth inning when Alex Lavinsky doubled to score Smith, reducing the Renegades’ lead to 2-1.

The Scrappers went ahead in the fifth inning when Smith doubled to score Elliott. Aaro Siliga also scored in that inning.

Joseph Colon (3-2) earned the victory, scattering four hits over six innings. He allowed two runs, walked two batters and struck out six.

Enosil Tejada earned his fourth save by striking out the side in the ninth inning.

Elliott paced the Scrappers with three hits and two runs scored. Smith also had two runs and drove in three.

The Scrappers will play the Renegades again today and Monday.
