PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Pittsburgh man faces a federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to taking a cruise from Florida with the intent of molesting a young boy.
Sherwood Stevenson, 72, is from Findlay Township, west of the city. Federal prosecutors in Pittsburgh say surveillance video taken during the cruise showed Stevenson fondled a 6-year-old boy while in a hot tub in December 2009. When that boy got away, Stevenson made brief contact with another boy.
Stevenson pleaded guilty to a single count of interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
He’ll be sentenced Nov. 22 under a plea agreement that likely will result in a four-year prison sentence. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette was reporting on its website that the plea agreement took into account Stevenson’s age, history of mental illness, and relatively brief contact with the boy.
