Lights Out Management presents a boxing card called “Destruction on the Diamond” on Aug. 13 at Cene Park.
On the main event Jake Giuriceo (12-0-1) of Campbell will meet George Mchedlishvili (8-4-1) of Philadelphia.
Also on the card will be WBF light welterweight champ Miguel Gonzalez (18-2) of Cleveland, heavyweights Chris Koval (24-8) of Austintown and Nick Firtha (19-8) of Akron.
The WBC women’s lightweight champ Mary Mcgee (17-1) and Paul Parker are scheduled.

Gunther runs well

Megan Gunther of LaBrae High qualified for the state meet in the 100 hurdles in June ran well in some meets this summer.
Gunther, a junior, won the 400-meter hurdles in three straight meets.
She won at Malone University, which was an AAU regional qualifier, then she qualified for the AAU National Jr. Olympics with a first in Charleston, W. Virginia.
Gunther qualified for the USATF regionals with a first at the GaReat complex in Geneva.
At the USATF Youth National Championships in Myrtle Beach Gunther placed fifth in the 400 hurdles and eighth in the 100 hurdles.

Collins takes lead at World Series of Poker

A 26-year-old poker professional who used to play online before federal indictments shut down the top poker websites to Americans took the chip lead Sunday at the World Series of Poker main event, then added to his stack by taking out last year’s third-place finisher.
Phil Collins of Las Vegas picked up 3.5 million in chips during the first two hours of play Sunday as 27 players were eliminated from the no-limit Texas Hold ’em tournament.
After a short break, Collins took the last of Cheong’s nearly 1 million in chips to move up to nearly 8.7 million in chips — more than 4 times as many as the next highest player at his table.
2012 Fed Cup quarterfinal draw set
HYOGO, Japan
Russia will host Spain and the Czech Republic will visit Germany in the 2012 Fed Cup quarterfinals in February.
Sunday’s draw also pitted first-round matchups of Serbia at Belgium and Ukraine at Italy on Feb. 4-5.
In the second tier, which determines who will be promoted to the main competition in 2013, the United States will host Belarus.
Horton waiting for his day with Stanley Cup
DUNNVILLE, Ontario
The Stanley Cup finally arrived in Canada, just a few hours late.
Nathan Horton’s day with the trophy was shortened when it was caught up in a flight delay.
Tammy Plante-Horton, wife of the Boston Bruins forward, tweeted that the cup was lost in Boston before it was to cross into Canada.
