Animal fundraiser

SALEM

Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary, 1859 Depot Road, will host a Media & Art Fundraiser to benefit the animals.

Books, magazines, DVDs, CDs and artwork will be available for sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. All proceeds go back to the animals at the sanctuary. The art sale will be in conjunction with Campfire USA. Wall hangings and pieces on canvas have been framed and matted.

The Alchemy Fundraising Committee will serve popcorn and beverages. Items can be donated starting Monday.

NAACP moves

YOUNGSTOWN

Effective Tuesday, the headquarters for the Youngstown unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will be in Suite 721 in the PNC Bank building downtown.

The local NAACP unit for the last several years has been at 3119 Market St. The phone number will stay the same, 330-782-9777.

Financial Aid Night

YOUNGSTOWN

As a part of its Senior Extravaganza, Chaney High School will host a Financial Aid Night on Tuesday during parent-teacher conferences.

The conferences begin at 3:30 p.m. and end at 6. Gina McHenry, associate director of scholarships and financial aid at Youngstown State University, will be the presenter. She will review the Free Application for Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA). The workshop and Powerpoint presentation takes place in the library beginning at 5 p.m.

Refreshments will be available, as well as information regarding scholarships, technical schools, worksheets, tutoring information, testing, careers and student newsletters. Parents may attend.

Volunteers needed

LIBERTY

The Senior Watch program is seeking volunteers to help with phone calls to check on the well-being of participants enrolled in the program.

Senior Watch is geared mostly to seniors, but the program will accommodate shut-ins, the disabled and others with special needs. About 100 people are enrolled. Call 330-759-1315, ext. 221.

Church raffle

St. Dominic Church will have a reverse raffle at Mr. Anthony’s banquet center Feb. 12.

Gift baskets, trips, concert tickets, sports memorabilia, art and a TV are among the prizes.

Tickets are $50, which includes dinner, or $30 for dinner only.
