Canfield girls swim team wins invitational

The Canfield girls swimming and diving team won three relays and Taylor Rodenbaugh broke the meet record in the 100-yard backstroke en route to the team title at the Hubbard Invitational last Saturday.
The Cards finished in the top three in eight events at the 16-team meet. Rodenbaugh won the backstroke in a time of 1:07.88 to break the record. The 400 free relay squad of Briana O’Malley, Erin Loomis, Jamie Wellham and Leslie Davis also made history by turning in a meet record time of 4.18.00.
Rodenbaugh, Kathryn Zetts, Alexx Montalto and Wellham teamed up to win the 200-yard medley relay. The Cards also won gold in the 200-yard free relay with the quartet of Leslie Davis, Rachel Mikolay, Zetts and O’Malley.
Individually, Wellham took second in the 100-yard backstroke and Loomis was runner-up in the 200-yard free, Finishing thrd in their respective events were Davis (50-yard free), O’Malley (100-yard butterfly) and Kelsey Santangelo (500-yard free).
The boys team was sparked by two winning relays as it finished second in the team standings.
The 200 free relay team of Mike Cardone, Mike Dohar, Mike DiDomenico and Jake Smith broke the meet record with a time of 1.42.09. Smith, Max Gocala, DiDomenico and Chris Wilkins combined to win the 400-yard free relay.
The 200-yard free relay quartet of Gocala, Wilkins, Dohar and Cardone claimed second and Smith added a runner-up finish in the 500-yard free. Dohar was third in the 100-yard butterfly.
