Woman says she wants to fill remaining term of auditor

Betty Brothers wants to fill the remaining term of former auditor Jim Armeni, and she plans to run for Salem auditor in the Republican Party primary May 3.

David Johnson, the chairman of the Columbiana County Republican Party, has said that the county party is taking applications to fill out Armeni’s term, which ends in December.

Armeni resigned in order to work for the Ohio Auditor’s Office.

Brothers, 55, said she has 15 years of banking experience at Sky Bank and Huntington Bank, including 10 years at the executive level.

She said she has been responsible for a complete retail-branch banking network with some 35 branch banks and more than 300 employees.

“I successfully implemented major projects that increased operating efficiencies while positively impacting the bank’s bottom line,” she said.

Brothers said she served as vice president and regional operations manager at the Huntington Bank office in Salineville where, as a member of the bank’s senior management team, she reported directly to the regional president of the bank.

She said: “With the strong background that I have in finance, I feel that I can make a positive contribution towards the betterment of operations at Salem city hall. ... And in doing this, I can contribute towards making Salem a nice place in which to live and work.”

She and her husband, Jack, live in Salem.
