Police: Bartender accidentally kills self

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police say a Pittsburgh bartender accidentally killed himself while playing with a gun inside a tavern.

Police say 52-year-old John Popinski was twirling the weapon when it went off, striking him in the head Wednesday night at Salac’s Tavern in the city’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.

Popinski was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.
