Ohio woman jailed 9 days over children's school addresses

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman convicted of improperly enrolling her children in a neighboring school district has left jail after serving nine days.

The Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network is trying to raise money online so Kelley Williams-Bolar can appeal her case. She indicated to the Akron-Beacon Journal after her release Wednesday that she was overwhelmed by support and attention.

A jury this month convicted the Akron woman of felony records tampering. Prosecutors said she registered her two daughters for school using her father’s address in the suburban Copley-Fairlawn district.

The Beacon-Journal reports Williams-Bolar was sentenced to 10 days in jail but the judge gave her credit for one day of time served when she was arrested in November 2009.
