Ohio school requires breathalyzer test at dances
MEDINA, Ohio (AP) — Students will have to pass a breathalyzer test before they can be admitted to dances at one Ohio high school.
A student member of a committee that came up with the new Medina High School policy says it comes after two students showed up drunk for the fall homecoming dance.
New rules taking effect for the Feb. 5 “Sweetheart Dance” at the school south of Cleveland also include a dance dress code and a ban on sexually suggestive dancing.
School district Superintendent Randy Stepp tells WJW-TV the high school must keep students safe and uphold community values.
The district is buying two breathalyzers and is sharing two others with a neighboring high school.
