Penelope Cruz, Bardem have a son

NEW YORK

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are proud parents of a baby boy. A spokeswoman for the actress confirmed Wednesday that Cruz gave birth to a boy last week. She says “both parents and baby are doing great.” She provided no other details. The couple were married at the beginning of July in the Bahamas.

The 36-year-old Cruz and the 41-year-old Bardem are from Spain. They appeared together in the 2008 Woody Allen romantic comedy “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to guest on ‘Five-O’

NEW YORK

CBS says musician-actor Sean “Diddy” Combs will guest star on an upcoming episode of “Hawaii Five-O.” He will play NYPD Detective Reggie Williams, who arrives in Honolulu on the hunt for the men who committed a crime against his family. The network said Wednesday that several of Combs’ hit songs will be featured on the episode, slated to air this spring.

Country hall of famer Charlie Louvin dies

NASHVILLE, Tenn.

Charlie Louvin, half of the Louvin Brothers duo whose harmonies inspired fellow country and pop singers for decades, died early Wednesday due to complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 83.

Brett Steele, his manager, said the Country Music Hall of Fame singer died at his home in Wartrace, Tenn.

Louvin was diagnosed with cancer last year and underwent unsuccessful surgery to remove the tumor but continued to schedule performances and even put out an album.

The unique sound of Charlie and his brother, Ira, was highly influential in the history of both country and rock, and they were inducted into the hall in 2001. Among their hits were “I Don’t Believe You’ve Met My Baby,” which was No. 1 in 1965.

The brothers decided to disband their duo in 1963. Ira died in a Missouri car accident two years later.

Motley Crue singer pleads guilty to DUI

LAS VEGAS

Motley Crue singer Vince Neil took a plea deal that calls for two weeks of jail time, plus two weeks of house arrest for driving drunk last summer near the Las Vegas Strip.

Neil pleaded guilty Wednesday morning before a Las Vegas justice of the peace to misdemeanor driving under the influence. He’s expected to begin serving his sentence Feb. 15, a week after his 50th birthday.
