Atty. Kren to run for Girard law director

Atty. Brian C. Kren has announced he is a Democratic candidate for the position of law director in the May 3 primary.

Mark Standohar, current law director, does not plan to run for re-election.

Kren is a lifelong resident of the city and son of Larry and Paulette Kren, He graduated from Girard High School in 1997. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Youngstown State University in 2001 and received a juris doctor degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 2005.

Kren was first elected to Girard’s Third Ward Council at age 19, becoming one of the youngest elected officials ever in the area. He has been active in the community as a member of SNPJ Lodge 643, Knights of Columbus Council 2935, Girard Historical Society, Friends of the Girard Free Library, Girard Chamber of Commerce and Girard Multi-Generational Center.

Kren is an associate with Patricia Kearney & Associates, LLC in Warren. His private practice is primarily focused on estate planning, probate, real estate and small business law.

He has volunteered to help Trumbull County residents facing foreclosure.

Kren is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Trumbull County Bar Association, serving on the Unauthorized Practice of Law and Young Lawyers committees.

He and his wife, Amy, live in Girard and have two children.
