Speed limit reduced to 45 mph on Pa. pike

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP)

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has reduced the speed limit to 45 mph on much of the main turnpike and much of the Interstate 476 Northeastern Extension.

Crews are also working to move all abandoned vehicles from turnpike shoulders so crews can more easily clear snow and ice.

The 45 mph limit went into effect this morning for the main turnpike on Interstates 76 and 276 from the Donegal exit to the New Jersey line.

The same limit applies to Interstate 476 between the Mid-County Exit 20 and Mahoning Valley Exit 74.

The lower speed limit could be lifted or extended, depending on whether conditions improve or deteriorate.
