ID of body in burned car still unclear

TARENTUM, Pa. (AP) — Allegheny County’s fire marshal and medical examiner are working to identify a badly burned body found inside a car that inexplicably burst into flames on a rural private driveway in western Pennsylvania.

Deputy Fire Marshal Don Brucker says the body found in the car about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Frazer Township was burned beyond recognition. The medical examiner has scheduled an autopsy for today but says it’s unclear when the body may be identified.

The fire marshal says the man who owns the nearby home wasn’t expecting a visitor and didn’t know anyone who owned a car like the one that caught fire on his steep driveway where the car caught fire. The car was a late model, orange Chevrolet Aveo.

Frazer is about 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
