A Maple Street Southwest man who was shot in the upper body a week ago outside a West Side convenience store was sentenced Tuesday to 60 days in Trumbull County Jail and five years’ probation on a burglary conviction.

D’Marko Harper, 19, was taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning after the shooting at Rocky’s AM/PM Market at Market Street and Iowa Avenue Northwest.

When he was released from the hospital the next day, he was taken into custody by police and transferred to the jail on a warrant for failing to appear in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Nov. 16 for sentencing on a burglary.

Harper pleaded guilty to the burglary Aug. 24 before Judge Andrew Logan. It carries a penalty of up to 18 months in prison.
