Kiwanis to raffle street-legal scooter
Members of the Kiwanis Club of Western Mahoning County will begin selling raffle tickets on Feb. 9 for a street-legal scooter.
Tickets will be $2 each and the drawing will be in June. The winner must be 18 or older.
The club recently sponsored the Canfield Speech Tournament. There were 511 registered participants from 19 area schools. Trophies were presented to the winners by Barb Smith, who will represent the club Jan. 26 at the Division 21 meeting in Toronto, Ohio, and Bob Thomas.
The guest speaker at a recent meeting was Bill Lawson, executive director of Mahoning Valley Historical Society. He told the club the Mahoning Valley Historical Center will be located in the Burt building, where Harry Burt produced the original Good Humor ice cream bar.
New members are invited to join the club, which meets at 6 p.m. each Wednesday at A La Cart in Canfield.
