Flying High Inc., 238 S. Meridian Road, plans an orientation session at 9 a.m. Tuesday for its seven-week professional-development program. Call Deborah Wilkins at 330-797-3995, ext. 105.

Flying High offers GED tutoring, hands-on work-experience opportunities, occupational training for state-tested nurses’ aides, computer certification, Microsoft Word 2010 and skill-building classes at Youngstown Metro College.

Tuition is free, but a $20 application fee is due Jan.31.

Flying High also has training stipends, interviewing, r sum and job-readiness skill workshops and supportive case-management services. Programs are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The crisis-intervention department also helps participants.

Valentine’s Day benefit

CANFIELD

A Valentine’s Day dinner and entertainment benefit for the Ursuline Center will be 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, Canfield Township. Tickets are $22 per person or $200 for a table of 10.

Featured entertainment includes pianist Thomas Solich, who will provide dinner music, and the Ursuline High School Chorus, which will entertain after dinner with a selection of popular music.

The gourmet meal — provided by Broad Street Diner — will have a Valentine theme, and dessert will feature chocolate fondue.

Fire on truck shuts down part of I-80

JACKSON TOWNSHIP

The Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a tractor-trailer fire about 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 80 East just west of the Meander Reservoir.

Traffic was stopped briefly because of the fire in the trailer. The driver was able to get the tractor away from the trailer; he was not injured.
