The Austintown Senior Center at 100 Westchester Dr. will offer painting classes for adults 60 and over beginning Jan. 31 at 9:30 a.m.
The first class will be a free introduction provided by instructor Susan Jacobs. Students will learn the secret that “what is seen first is painted last” and complete their paintings over three follow-up sessions.
The initial free class will be followed by three classes on Feb. 7, 14 and 28 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The three classes will cost $15. Students must bring a canvass 11-by-14 inches or larger and can bring their own acrylics. Otherwise, basic acrylics and brushes will be provided.
Jacobs is an artist and art teacher with a bachelor’s degree in art education and master’s degree in secondary art from Youngstown State University. She is currently an adjunct professor at Ashland University.
