God heals broken hearts
Many of us daily carry within ourselves the broken pieces of our lives.
These broken pieces are reminders of mistakes made, guilt born and regrets of the past.
They seem to be hidden or buried in a place rarely revealed to others, yet internally viewed by us.
Sometimes the reminders appear as thoughts that seem to come out of nowhere.
We may find ourselves reliving situations that cause pain and bring to life once again certain circumstances that cannot be changed.
It may be a bad relationship decision, suffering rejection, verbal or physical abuse, the loss of a loved one, to name a few.
Each of us is a unique and different person, in personality and spirit.
The pains of life, brokenness of heart, soul and spirit are carried and buried by each one distinctively.
There is an answer for the wounded and broken heart — it is the Lord.
A broken heart can be healed. A troubled mind is able to experience peace. A wounded spirit can be made whole again.
God says, “I am the Lord who heals you.” This truth comes from one of many who personally experienced the wonderful healing balm of the Lord.
He is able to put together the broken pieces of shattered lives.
We have physicians who are trained to recognize symptoms of illnesses and prescribe the medicines or procedures necessary to help restore health. That is their part of the process.
Ours is to recognize there is a problem, visit the doctor and follow the orders given. If done, we will see the results.
Spiritually works much in the same way. Our choice must be to acknowledge the situation and proceed to get the help and answer needed.
Following the directives listed in Scripture will help produce an internal healing of a wounded and crushed spirit.
God’s love released into this world and encompassed in his son is able to heal and bring restoration to hurting lives and souls.
To insist on self-diagnosis or self-dependency is to allow for a prolonged illness and unnecessary pain and suffering of the spirit.
Believe today that the Lord has the answer and the cure.
If we ask for his help, we will not be disappointed.
David wrote in Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is near to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Those who are feeling downtrodden, trampled, overwhelmed with life and circumstances, to the point of losing their peace of mind, can be assured that the Lord is near.
He is there, waiting to help and release the hope and healing necessary.
David knew first- hand what he spoke about.
He suffered betrayal, rejection, fear and torment. He lost the promised kingdom for a season, was exiled, buried his son and lost a baby.
Some of us today are experiencing our own trials.
We need to follow David’s example. He encouraged himself in the Lord, choosing to rely upon the promises of God for strength and healing.
His relationship with the Lord carried him through the utmost difficulties of his life.
King Solomon, a man filled with wisdom shares his writings with us as well.
Proverbs 18:14 reads, “The spirit of a man can endure his sickness, but as for a broken spirit who can bear it?”
Brokenness of spirit robs us of our inner strength, faith and trust in God. It is a wounded and defeated spirit, crushed by the cares and difficulties of life.
Our hope must be focused on the one who is able to lift us up out of the miry clay, place our feet on solid ground and give us a new song in our heart.
The song is one of thankfulness to God who is more than able to restore our joy and heal our heart.
Trust Jesus because he will never fail. For God has sent him to “bind up the brokenhearted!”
