H.O.W.-Helping Other Women Inc. Project: “Off The Floor” is seeking clean and gently used furniture, bedroom, living-room and dining-room furniture.
Kitchen appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, and other items such as dishes, pots, pans, glassware and silverware, sheets, blankets, towels and washcloths also are being sought.

Parking ban
Struthers
Because of the impending snowstorm headed to the Mahoning Valley, there is a parking ban in the city that continues until 6 p.m. today. Residents must remove their vehicles from city streets to allow crews to clear away snow.
Seeking re-election
YOUNGStOWN
Councilwoman Annie Gillam, D-1st, plans to file nominating petitions Monday with the Mahoning County Board of Elections seeking re-election to a second term on city council. Gillam, of Kimmel Street, succeeded her husband, Artis Gillam, on council in the 2007 general election.
The 1st Ward includes downtown and portions of the lower east and south sides of the city.
All seven members of council are up for re-election this year and all plan to run for another four-year term.
New trustee

Zoning Officer Don Kendrick will become a Perry Township trustee effective Feb. 1.
Kendrick was appointed by the other two trustees, Clifford Mix and Don Rudibaugh, to fill the seat formerly held by Mike Halleck, who was elected a Columbiana County commissioner. Kendrick will serve until the end of this year.
Halleck had said that he would stay on as a Perry Township trusteeuntil the end of January.
If Kendrick wants to stay on as a trustee, he would have to run in November for the remainder of Halleck’s term, which ends in Dec. 2013.
Kendrick said he will serve for seven months and then decide whether he will run in November.
Snow emergency
YOuNGSTOWN
The city’s public works department has declared a snow emergency until further notice. During a snow emergency, parking is prohibited on all streets except those with a width of 25 feet or less and having no driveway parking available.
All vehicles parking in violation of the snow emergency are subject to being towed at the expense of the owner.
