Latest winter storm ices roads, cancels flights in Cincy

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — The latest winter storm has arrived with snow starting to fall in southwest Ohio, making for a difficult commute and closing several schools.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington reports portions of the state including areas around Cincinnati and Columbus could see between 4 to 6 inches of snow by this evening.

Temperatures will then begin falling with lows of about 10 degrees possible.

The Hamilton Journal News reports that all schools in Butler and Warren counties in southwest Ohio were closed today.

Several traffic accidents were reported early on Interstate 75 and on many rural roads in both counties.

About 100 flights were canceled to and from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International airport today due to weather locally and in other cities. Airport officials say runways remain open, but some flights are experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes.

Cincinnati Public Schools and other area schools in surrounding counties closed and traffic accidents have been reported on interstates and rural roads from Cincinnati up to Columbus.
