YOUNGSTOWN

Mayor Jay Williams is among three people selected by Dominion East Ohio as its 2011 Strong Men and Women Honorees.

The three will be honored at an event at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 11 in the grand ballroom of the Cleveland Downtown Marriott Hotel.

Dominion’s event highlights the achievements of black men and women in the company’s service area in honor of Black History Month, which is February.

Each year, Dominion selects black leaders and role models for the honor.

Williams is Youngstown’s first black mayor.

In addition to Williams, two others are being honored. They are: Leon D. Bibb, the first black prime-time television news anchor in Ohio, and Gary G. Thomas, the first black artist with work on display in three national sports museums.

Dominion East Ohio provides natural gas to about 1.2 million customers in eastern and western Ohio.
