Covelli Centre shows operating surplus for 2010

YOUNGSTOWN — The city-owned Covelli Centre finished 2010 with an operating surplus of $110,434, according to figures released today by the city.

This is the second straight year with an operating surplus for the entertainment facility after three years of losses.

Eric Ryan, the center’s executive director, said he is proud the facility had an operating surplus in 2010, considered the worst year in memory for concerts.

“Quite honestly, I feel very fortunate to have the numbers we had in the midst of this economy,” he said. “People just aren’t buying tickets like they use to, and tours just aren’t on the road.”
