Northeast Ohio soldier dies in Iraq
CONCORD, Ohio (AP) — The Department of Defense says an Ohio soldier has died in Iraq.
The military identified the soldier as 41-year-old Maj. Michael S. Evarts of Concord, about 30 miles northeast of Cleveland. The department said in a news release that Evarts died Monday in Tikrit in “a noncombat related incident.”
Evarts was assigned to the 256th Combat Support Hospital in Twinsburg, Ohio.
