Drive-by shooting on East Side

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are investigating the nonfatal shooting of a 25-year-old South Side man.

The man told police he was the rear-seat passenger in a car being driven by his brother on McGuffey Avenue near Garland Avenue Tuesday when the driver of another car fired 10 shots at the car. He said his brother drove away, but the car gave out on Fifth Avenue because of flat tires. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center by a passing motorist.

The man had been shot in the leg.

Police searched the area of Fifth Avenue and noted there was no disabled vehicle.

Police also noted that a 9mm round fell from the victim’s clothing.
