Water main break curtails some services in Poland

POLAND — A fracture in a waterline led to water being shut off for homes and businesses in the center of the village today.

“It was like a geyser,” said Russell Beatty, village street commissioner.

The water main break on South Main Street near the Poland Library was repaired this evening, he said.

The library closed at 3:30 p.m. today and will have regular hours Wednesday as long as the repairs hold, said Janet Loew, public-relations director for the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.
