Twice convicted ex-CIA spy gets 8 more years

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — One of the highest-ranking CIA officers ever convicted of espionage has been sentenced to eight more years in prison after pleading guilty to betraying his country a second time.

Harold “Jim” Nicholson is already serving 24 years for selling classified U.S. documents to Russia between 1994 and 1996.

But he admitted using his son, Nathan, to collect a “pension” from Russian agents beginning in 2006 while the elder Nicholson was serving his time in federal prison in Oregon.
