No land purchased for proposed resort complex

BOARDMAN — The developers of a proposed $300 million complex in the Mahoning Valley with a horse racetrack, resort and possibly a casino with slot machines said today they haven’t purchased any property for the facility.

Rick Lertzman and Bradford Pressman, heads of the Mahoning Valley Development Group, said today they have options on a little more than 200 acres and are close to obtaining options on 200 additional acres.

The developers talked of expanding to 700 acres.

Lertzman and Pressman refused to disclose the proposed location for the complex except to say it’s in the Mahoning Valley.

The company needs approval from the Ohio State Racing Commission for a license to have betting at their location.

Also, slot machines are currently illegal in Ohio.
