YOUNGSTOWN

The East Committee of the Friends of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County invites the public to learn more about the friends group at an open house from 5 to 6 p.m. March 7, at the East Branch Library, 430 Early Road.

Deborah Liptak, library development director, will present information about the 16-branch library system, the East Branch and its friends group. The friends will have a general membership meeting at 4:30 p.m., immediately preceding the open house.

Police fundraiser

Warren Township Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 198 is sponsoring a Mahoning Valley Scrappers baseball game scheduled at 7 p.m. July 6. The lodge will be soliciting by phone for donations. The proceeds will go toward the lodge’s community college scholarship and to help needy families.

Cemetery cleanup

St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Villa Marie Road, willhave spring cleanup March 15. All Christmas decorations should be removed before that date or they will be discarded.
