Students at St. Christine School had no doubts on Feb. 8 that they were the most important and vital part of their school.
That particular Tuesday, the school celebrated its Student Appreciation Day, which students like Cameron Wylie referred to as “the best day of school ever.”
The event was originally planned for Feb. 2, to coincide with the celebration of Catholic School’s Week, but a snow day canceled the original event. However, the move to Feb. 8 didn’t dampen the spirits of the staff or students.
Classes were canceled on Student Appreciation Day, and all grade levels were offered a wealth of events to attend. Primary grades attended a day of entertaining story times, and the older students were treated to a showing of “Toy Story 3” in their parish center and a dance in the school gym.
The Home and School Association provided Wedgewood Pizza and Dairy Queen ice cream for a special lunch. Tracy Goss, president of the Home and School Association, said she was glad to provide the treats for the students.
“We’re here for our students and thinking of them all the time, and we just want the kids to have fun. They don’t get these kinds of celebrations enough.”
The students feel the same appreciation for their parents and teachers.
“We go to a really great school and we know the work everyone does for us,” said student Sara Velk.
Velk’s friend, Madeline Handel agreed.
“Everyone is always planning awesome things for us.”
Patrick Trimble’s praise was more focused.
“They bought us free pizza and ice cream. Who wouldn’t want to go here?”
