In 2010, Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley distributed 8.3 million pounds of food, including more than 2 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to 153 hunger-relief agencies in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Here is more information about the food bank and local hunger:

It distributes about 35,000 pounds of food a day.

It provides food to more than 12,000 individuals a week.

51 percent of families served report having to choose between paying for food and paying utility bills.

35 percent of families served report having to choose between paying for food or purchasing medication.
