SALEM

The city board of education finally unveiled the results of its survey of the district.

Nick Bush, president of the board, said Thursday night that he had talked with more than 200 people to get input on the schools.

Those conversations will result in a look at educational models that can be put into use in the district.

The models should be finalized by March and be in use by the end of June.

Bush said that during the effort to take the pulse of the district, he found “a community desire to be the best.”

School officials pointed out that Salem residents always have been proud of the district.

Bush said, “We are definitely a high-quality school system.”

People in the community believe that the local economy may be starting to rebound and that could help the district.

The study also looked at what has been offered to students about careers and career planning.

Bush said that when it came to “financial stewardship, we have provided value for the money and been prudent.”

Issues examined during the survey showed the board was trusted, officials said.
