Canfield Wrestling Club members David Crawford and Georgio Poullas finished fourth in their respective weight classes at the Ohio Youth Wrestling Association State Tournament in Akron.

The wrestling club had qualified seven youth to the state tournament.

Crawford placed fourth at 95 pounds after advancing to the championship semifinals, before losing a match. He rallied with victories in the consolation bracket to advance to the third and fourth-place match. Crawford lost 4-2 in overtime to Massillon Jackson’s Victor Marcelli to finish third.

Poullas took fourth at 105 pounds, following the same route as Crawford. After winning his consolation bout, he

lost an 8-2 to Nick Frye of Cuyahoga Heights to clinch fourth place.

Nathan Whitehead (86 pounds) went 2-2 at the state tournament, falling one match short of the placement round. Christian Wayt (56) and Daniel Kapalko (95) each wrestled at state and went 1-2.

Andy Garr (73) and Braxton Madison (100) went 0-2 at the tournament.

Crawford and Poullas, along with three other Canfield Wrestling Club wrestlers have qualified for the Ohio Athletic Committee state meet at the Covelli Centre March 19-20.
