The Beaver Local School District will have kindergarten registration for the 2011-12 school year. Registration packets may be picked up from March 9-19 at the elementary school the child will attend. All registration packets should be returned by March 25.

Completed registration requires an official birth certificate (with the original embossed seal) showing the child will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, a copy of the immunization record documenting that the child has had five DPT, four polio, two MMR, three hepatitis B and two chicken-pox vaccines, Social Security card, legal documentation showing custody and/or legal guardianship if applicable and proof of residency.

Each year, the district conducts Early Impact, which involves child and parent participation. Tentative program dates are May 24-26. When completed registration is returned to the school, the Early Impact date will be scheduled.

The Mahoning County Bar Association Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships to attend law school.

The bar foundation is the charitable arm of the county bar association and has awarded scholarships to law students for about 22 years.

The foundation offers several scholarships for award. In addition to general scholarships by the foundation, there are also scholarships in memory of Attys. Irwin I. Kretzer, Harlan Small and Robert J. Boyd.

Scholarship applications are available by calling the bar association at 330-746-2933 or by e-mail at mcarroll@mahoningbar.org. They also are available by contacting Paul A. Sracic in the political science department at Youngstown State University at 330-941-3436.

Applications must be received by the bar association by May 22 to be considered. Recipients will be recognized at the annual election banquet June 27.

Open enrollment forms for Jackon-Milton Local Schools are available at the elementary school and the middle/high school building or online at www.jacksonmilton.k12.uh.us. All paperwork should be completed and dropped off at the school building the child will be attending.

The Lowellville school district will continue its inter-district open enrollment policy for the 2011-12 school year. Inter-district applications will be available at the Lowellville K-12 school main office, 52 Rocket Place, beginning at 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday. Applications will also be available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30 are eligible to be registered for kindergarten in Howland Schools for the 2011-12 school year. Parents are requested to go to the building of attendance between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. next week to complete the required paperwork.

Parents must bring the following information with them when registering their child: a state-certified copy of the child’s birth certificate; the child’s immunization record; custody/guardianship documentation (if applicable); Social Security card; proof of residence such as a copy of a mortgage loan or property deed; rental agreement and a copy of a recent utility bill; homeowner’s insurance payment receipt or current property-tax bill. A copy of the child’s individual education plan if applicable is also required.
