Snow stalls plan to search for missing Ohio couple

Friday, February 25, 2011

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) — Plans to search for a missing couple in their 80s are being called off in Ohio because of bad weather.

Volunteers had been set to converge Saturday on a rural county in western Ohio where the couple was last seen more than a week ago. But organizers say snow that blanketed the area today will make it impossible to search.

Organizers tell The Columbus Dispatch they may try again the following weekend.

Authorities don’t know what happened to Richard and Gladis Russell of Bellefontaine. An Ohio man is in custody in Princeton, W.Va., where the Russells’ car was found Tuesday. Police say they discovered blood inside the car.

The man in custody already is charged in the stabbing death of his girlfriend’s 26-year-old daughter in Bellefontaine.
